The presentation tool landscape has changed significantly in 2026. Here is how the big three compare across the dimensions that matter most to professionals.

Editing power

PowerPoint still leads in raw feature depth. Morph transitions, 3D models, and advanced charting give it an edge for complex business presentations. Keynote excels at animation fluidity and typography. Google Slides wins on simplicity.

Collaboration

Google Slides dominates real-time collaboration. PowerPoint has caught up with co-authoring in Microsoft 365, but the experience is less seamless. Keynote collaboration via iCloud works but feels bolted on.

Template ecosystem

PowerPoint has the largest template marketplace by far. Most professional template providers (including us) prioritise PPTX. Keynote has a smaller but growing selection. Google Slides templates are often free but lower quality.

Our recommendation

Use PowerPoint for high-stakes presentations, Keynote for design-forward decks on Apple hardware, and Google Slides for fast collaborative drafts. Our templates work across all three.
